The Alice & Ivy Story

Sometimes a journey starts in the smallest of ways. For me, it started with a vivid purple eyeshadow in my mum’s makeup bag circa 1975 and a jar of Ponds Cold Cream kept on a bathroom shelf. Next came a Girls’ World in Christmas 1978. Followed by a Vogue Beauty Book with mini makeup kit.

My interest in makeup, skincare, wellbeing and all things beauty started at a young age and has been a consistent thread in my life.  My dream was to open a shop that sold great products, smelt wonderful and would be a fun and welcoming place for people to come to for advice and to feel great about themselves.

However a corporate career beckoned and so for nearly 30 years that was my main focus, but I kept taking those small steps, training as a beauty therapist through evening classes and doing makeup for weddings and photo shoots. And the dream of opening that shop just wouldn’t go away.

Then, in 2021, I decided that it was time to take a big step (well more of a jump into the unknown) and make that dream a reality. alice and ivy was born. I am so lucky to work with my alice and ivy family, Keeley and Emma, and together we bring expertise, warmth and energy to everything from brand and product selection, to giving advice, to treatments and private makeup events.

We put our clients at the heart of everything we do – picking products that really work (from independent brands that champion organic, clean ingredients and support the environment), providing advice and support, and delivering a curated menu of treatments that we really excel at.

The next stage of our journey in April will see the launch of our new website which will have more of the hints, tricks and tips we want to share, how to guides, product info and recommendations, guest blogs as well as a great online booking system.

We’re very excited about the launch of the new website but we still love our bricks and mortar home, where you can try out our wide range of products, smell the wonderful scents and meet the team. Pop by and say hello.
